Contra was commissioned by Anna Freud centre to redesign and build a new website for one of their services; The Youth Wellbeing Directory.
The Youth Wellbeing Directory is a online directory for young people, commissioners and referrers to find local services and resources. The aim is for young people, helping those who suffer from mental health difficulties to find the support and advice they need. The site needed to be accessible, user friendly and manageable and provide a smooth user experience so relevant information could be found quickly.
For this particular project we used the Agile Approach where we run the process in a series of sprints, allowing the platform to evolve with each iteration. It allowed us to work closely with the client and thoroughly discuss each stage so their vision and expectation was being met.
Through the consultation process we established the audience would primarily access the directory using their phones. With this in mind, we designed the site taking the ‘Mobile first’ approach, which meant a simpler interface was created and within limited clicks the user can find a service and resources.
The prime focus was on the search functionality and designing a streamlined process. Users can search for services in their area and across the UK, enter the name of a specific service and search and filter a list of resources which are more associated with how the person is feeling. The search is an easy and clear, with a tailored list of results appearing after clicking search.
